AdSense PIN Never Arrived: What to Do Next
Wait 3 weeks from the mail date, fix your payments address, then request a replacement under Payments, Verification check, Resend PIN. You can resend every 3 weeks, and if a 4th replacement still has not arrived after 3 weeks, Google points you to its PIN troubleshooter. Finish within 4 months or ads stop serving.
The address PIN is the last gate between your first AdSense earnings and your first payment. It is a 6 digit code on paper, sent by ordinary international post, and for a lot of new publishers it simply does not show up. The good news: Google built a fixed process for this, and if you follow it in order you will not lose your account or your balance. The bad news: the clock is running, and a few common mistakes reset it or end it.
How the AdSense PIN actually works
Google mails the PIN once two things are true. First, your identity verification is done. Identity verification now starts at $0, so most new accounts are asked for it right away under Payments > Verification check. Second, your balance reaches the address verification threshold, which Google lists as $10 or the local equivalent. The PIN is only sent after identity passes, so if your ID check is still pending, no letter is coming yet, no matter how many times you press Resend.
The PIN is a unique 6 digit number. It is not your publisher ID (the pub- number) and it is not anything sent by email or SMS. It arrives as a physical letter at the payments address on your account. Google's help pages say delivery typically takes 2 to 4 weeks after mailing, and in places with slow international post it can take longer.
Three numbers matter for everything that follows:
- 3 weeks: the minimum wait before you can request a replacement, and the minimum gap between replacements.
- 3 attempts: enter the PIN wrong 3 times and the address check fails and ads stop serving. Requesting a replacement resets that counter.
- 4 months: if your address is still not verified 4 months after the process starts, Google stops showing ads on your pages until you finish.
Check these five things before you press Resend
Most PIN failures are not lost mail. They are an address problem that a resend just repeats. Spend ten minutes on this list first.
- Confirm identity verification is complete. Open
Payments > Verification check. If it still asks for an ID document or says it is under review, that is the blocker, not the post office. - Read your payments address exactly as Google has it. Open
Payments Go toand look at the address on your payments profile. Missing apartment or unit numbers, a wrong postal code, or a building name in the wrong field are the usual culprits.Payments > Payments info > Manage settingsand look at the payments profile addressgt; Payments info - Write it the way your local mail carrier expects. Google itself recommends entering the payments address in local language characters. If your country uses a non Latin script, a Latin transliteration is easier for a sorting office to misroute.
- Make sure the address is in your account's country. Google does not allow a payments address in a different country from the account. If you moved abroad, you cannot simply type the new foreign address.
- Ask your post office about forwarding and held mail. A forwarding order from an old address, or a building that collects letters at a front desk, swallows a lot of PIN mailers. Google's help center suggests this check too.
Only a user with payments admin rights can change the payments address. If you share the account with a partner or an agency login, make sure the right person makes the edit.
How to request a replacement PIN, step by step
- Count 3 full weeks from the date the last PIN was mailed. The date shows on the Verification check page. Requesting earlier is not possible.
- Sign in and open
Payments > Verification check. - Click Resend PIN. A dialog shows your payments address. Fix anything wrong there before you confirm.
- Note today's date somewhere you will see it. Your next possible resend is 21 days later.
A replacement PIN is a duplicate of the original code, so if the first letter turns up a day after you requested the second, use it. Whichever copy arrives first is valid.
If you changed your address after the PIN was mailed, the letter almost certainly went to the old address. Google's guidance is to wait 3 weeks from the original send date and then request a replacement, which will go to the new address.
Entering the PIN without burning your attempts
When the letter arrives, go to Payments > Verification check, type the 6 digits exactly as printed, and click Submit. Two practical tips:
- Type it, do not paste it from a photo to text app. Optical character tools confuse 1 and 7, and 0 and 8, and each wrong guess costs one of your 3 attempts.
- If you have two letters, they carry the same code. You do not need to try both.
If you do hit 3 wrong entries, request a replacement PIN. That resets the attempt counter, and you go back to the 3 week wait.
Still nothing after the fourth replacement
Google's help pages say that if you have requested a 4th replacement and still have nothing 3 weeks later, you should go to the AdSense PIN troubleshooter at support.google.com/adsense/troubleshooter/1094206. That is the documented route for accounts where the post genuinely is not getting through, and it is where you will find any alternative options Google offers your account. Before you open it, collect the facts it will ask about: the dates of each PIN request, the exact address used, and confirmation that your identity check is complete.
Two things not to do at this stage. Do not open a second AdSense account to restart the process; AdSense allows one account per publisher and a duplicate is a fast way to lose both. And do not change the address to a friend's house in another country. The address has to match the account's country.
Watch the 4 month deadline
Here is the timeline that catches people. If the clock starts on 1 March and you resend at the earliest moment each time, your requests land around 22 March, 12 April, 3 May and 24 May. Add 3 to 4 weeks of transit for the last one and you are already into late June, close to the 4 month mark at the start of July. Every week you wait between steps is a week you will not get back.
If you are running out of time while letters are genuinely in transit, Google says you can contact AdSense support through the help center to ask for an extension of the address verification timeline. Ask before the deadline passes, not after ads have stopped.
Also note what does not stop. Your earnings keep accruing while you wait. The PIN blocks payment, not earning, until the 4 month cutoff. Once you verify, Google pays out when your balance reaches the payment threshold, which is $100 in the US, provided there are no other holds.
What to do with the waiting time
A PIN delay is a good moment to make sure the site itself is earning what it should once payments flow. Check that ads.txt is live at your root domain and returns a 200, that your pages are indexed, and that nothing in Policy center is limiting ad serving. If you want a quick structural pass, the free site checker runs 30 checks on any URL, including ads.txt, robots.txt and indexability, in about ten seconds.

Questions about the AdSense PIN letter
How long does the AdSense PIN take to arrive?
Google says PIN letters typically arrive 2 to 4 weeks after mailing, sent by standard international post, and some locations take longer.
When can I request a new AdSense PIN?
After 3 weeks have passed since the last PIN was mailed. You can then request one every 3 weeks from Payments, Verification check, Resend PIN.
What happens if I enter the AdSense PIN wrong?
After 3 wrong entries the address check fails and ads stop showing. Requesting a replacement PIN resets the attempt limit.
Do I keep earning while waiting for the PIN?
Yes. Earnings keep accruing; the PIN only blocks payment. If the address is not verified within 4 months, Google stops showing ads until you finish.
